Damsel Fish

Territorial and Resistant Fish

Damselfish belong to the Pomacanthidae family. They thrive in rather warm waters, in the tropical coral reefs found in the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. Although each species of damselfish has its own characteristics (Chromis viridis, Chrysiptera, dascyllus, pomacentrus, neoglyphidodo, etc.), they are generally very territorial fish, which makes coexistence with other species difficult. Omnivorous with carnivorous tendencies, damselfish feed on brine shrimp, mussels, and other frozen foods. Overall, this species eats almost anything, which greatly facilitates feeding. Popular for their resistance and robustness, damselfish are an ideal and highly sought-after species in saltwater aquariums.
