Surface skimmers can be used in fresh or saltwater. They are very useful for removing the greasy film that floats on the surface of newly filled aquariums. Surface skimmers also help purify the water thanks to their internal filtration system. It is recommended to use them in conjunction with an external filtration system or a sump for perfect water quality.

Internal decanters are ideal for creating a highly efficient filtration system at the expense of the usable volume of the aquarium. They are made of plastic and must be glued to one of the internal surfaces of the aquarium with special aquarium silicone glue. Internal decanters should be equipped with a compact and efficient pump (2 to 3 times the volume in freshwater), filtration foam, and filter floss to be operational.
