Mandarin Fish

Peaceful and Popular Fish

Mandarinfish synchiropus picturatus, pterosynchiropus splendidus, synchiropus marmoratus, neosynchiropus ocellatus. Mandarinfish are small, brilliantly colored fish from the Callionymidae family, very popular in aquariums for their colors and calm behavior. Rather tolerant with other species, they are generally not disturbed by cohabitation with other fish. However, due to their timid nature, it is not recommended to introduce them into an aquarium with overly territorial species. Mandarinfish often live on sandy bottoms and feed on small invertebrates. Indeed, their main diet consists of consuming phytoplankton and zooplankton found on rocks and sand. This diet makes manual feeding relatively complex. Therefore, it is crucial to have a tank with impeccable conditions, with a micro-ecosystem conducive to the feeding of mandarinfish.
