Overview
SeaGel™ is a blend of MatrixCarbon™ and PhosGuard™ and is specifically optimized for aquariums where the removal of organic color bodies and acids is needed without introducing phosphate. MatrixCarbon™ is an ultra-capacity carbon for removing organic and color impurities. PhosGuard™ is a powerful remover of phosphate, silicate, toxic metals, and acids. Both components are bead-shaped for optimal water flow characteristics and penetration. The components reinforce each other and are ideal for reef and marine use. SeaGel™ can also be used in freshwater that is not phosphate-buffered.
SeaGel™ is specifically optimized for aquariums where the removal of organic bodies and acids is needed without introducing phosphate.
Although MatrixCarbon™ has the lowest detectable leachable phosphate content of all major carbon brands tested, some phosphate is still released. Adding PhosGuard™ to the mix compensates for this. Will SeaGel™ remove trace elements?
Carbon (such as our MatrixCarbon™, which makes up 50% of SeaGel™) will not have a major impact on trace elements. However, it is likely to only remove an insignificant amount, meaning that SeaGel™ does not remove trace elements to a significant degree.
