In the aquarium:
Acropora formosa is a resilient species among the Acropora. Place this coral at the top of the rocks to benefit from both intense light and dynamic but indirect water flow.
In the natural environment
Geographical distribution: Range throughout the Indo-Pacific Ocean. This species is found in shallow waters, generally at depths of 5 to 30 meters. In reef slopes, lagoons, lagoonal areas without strong wave action, and even sometimes in fringing reefs with little swell.
Natural forms: The branch direction is quite regular. The radial corallites are not necessarily uniformly distributed nor arranged erratically, they are tubular and can coexist in two sizes. This coral is easily visible and has a rapid growth rate (the branches extend by 2 to 6 cm per year).
Most common color in the natural environment: Acropora formosa is generally dark gray or brown, cream, brown, or blue, with pale pink, pale blue, or very light purple tips in the growth zone.
