Special pre-treatment for use in freshwater up to a pH of 7.5. Does not influence pH or conductivity. Does not release phosphates. Quickly filters and removes discolorations and medication residues. Ready to use in its felt bag. JBL offers two types of activated carbon because activated carbon must be adapted to the water's pH. Activated carbon can potentially lower the pH. JBL Carbomec activ is designed for pH values below 7.5, while JBL Carbomec ultra is developed for pH values above 7.5. These high pH levels are usually found in marine aquariums or waters of Lake Malawi or Tanganyika. They are also found in Sulawesi invertebrate tanks. Therefore, it is not a question of freshwater or saltwater, but the pH of the aquarium.
