JBL Carbomec ultra super active carbon

Activated carbon specially suited for pH 8.0. 100% phosphate-free. Bound substances are not released back into the water. Does not affect pH or conductivity. Ready to use in its felt pouch. Also suitable for pH values around 8 in Malawi and Tanganyika aquariums. JBL offers two types of activated carbon because activated carbons need to be adapted to the water's pH. Activated carbons can indeed lower the pH. JBL Carbomec activ was designed for pH values below 7.5 while JBL Carbomec ultra was developed for pH values above 7.5. These high pH levels are usually found in marine aquariums or waters of the Malawi or Tanganyika lakes. They are also found in Sulawesi invertebrate tanks. Therefore, it is not a matter of freshwater or saltwater, but the aquarium's pH.
