En savoir plus
The Calcinus elegans is very widespread in the western part of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. This hermit crab has a white shell and orange antennae. The rest of its body is blue with black or brown stripes. In most cases, this specimen is found in the intertidal zone. Therefore, a few sedimentary rocks are welcome for effective maintenance in an aquarium. The presence of corals is also recommended so that the Calcinus elegans can take refuge in them. We strongly recommend providing it with substitute shells to offer it the possibility of changing once its growth becomes too large for its original shell. Its size being very small, it does not pose any danger in a community aquarium. Following an omnivorous diet, it is an excellent scavenger that cleans the tanks of leftover fish food and algae.
Calcinus elegans, commonly known as the elegant hermit crab. It is omnivorous. Its diet includes algae and leftover food not consumed by your fish. Empty shells will need to be placed in the aquarium so it can grow properly. Possible predation
