En savoir plus
The Dardanus pedunculatus is a hermit crab with green eyes and can reach about ten centimeters in size. Living in the waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean, this species accumulates sea anemones on its shell to create a safe and stinging shelter, deterring potential predators. When it changes shells, it transfers its anemones to the new one. Carnivorous by nature, it has a hunting instinct facilitated by its large size. The Dardanus pedunculatus can only coexist with robust and large animals, otherwise it might prey on other individuals.
Common name: Green-eyed hermit crab or coral-dwelling hermit. It is incompatible with a reef aquarium because it is a very predatory species; it has anemones on its shell that are very stinging.
