En savoir plus

The Juvenile Pholidichthys leucotaenia is a black snake-like fish with a horizontal white or golden stripe along its body. Once it becomes an adult, this stripe turns into a grid pattern. This fish is found in the marine bottoms between the Southwest of the Philippines and the Solomon Islands. When juvenile, it is preferable to keep it in a small group. With a peaceful temperament, it does not disturb the activity of other specimens.

When kept in an aquarium, a minimum of 600 liters is required for an adult individual or a group of juveniles. The Pholidichthys leucotaenia requires a water temperature between 24°C and 27°C and a pH between 8.1 and 8.3. Its maintenance is considered moderately difficult and requires some knowledge. As a carnivore, it is incompatible with shrimp or crustaceans. Nevertheless, its calm temperament is a definite advantage, as it spends a large part of its time buried in the sand and comes out for its meal.
