En savoir plus

The Chaetodon auriga is a butterflyfish with a half-white, half-yellow body that includes brown diagonal stripes, a black ocellus near the dorsal fin, and a large vertical black band covering its eye. Measuring about twenty centimeters, it primarily lives in groups or pairs. Like other species similar to its own, its swimming is quite lively.

For optimal care, a minimum 450L aquarium is recommended. The water temperature should be between 23°C and 28°C, and the pH between 8 and 8.5. Due to the behavior of the Chaetodon auriga and its intense swimming, only one individual per tank is advised. Rocks and plants forming a reef-like decor are ideal to ensure the well-being of the fish. Being omnivorous, it is not very difficult to feed, as it consumes both coral polyps and mysis or artemia.

Common name: Threadfin Butterflyfish. This fish has an elliptical white and yellow body with a black ocellus on the dorsal fin. It is easy to feed as it eats a bit of everything, including coral polyps, so it is best kept in a fish-only tank. It requires an aquarium rich in algal vegetation.
