En savoir plus
The Chaetodon capistratus is a butterflyfish native to the Western Atlantic Ocean. Silver and black, this specimen features diagonal stripes on its sides, an eyespot near the caudal fin, as well as a dark vertical band crossing its head through its eye. Measuring about 13 to 15 cm, this species inhabits, like other individuals of the butterflyfish genus, coral reefs and rocky lagoons. Quite lively, the Chaetodon capistratus swims alone or in pairs and can be approached without difficulty.
For effective maintenance, this species should benefit from an aquarium of at least 450 liters. The water temperature that the animal tolerates ranges between 23° and 28°, and the recommended pH is between 8 and 8.5. The interspecific relationships of the Chaetodon capistratus are considered to be without notable danger. Like other marine animals of its kind, it consumes small benthic invertebrates.
Common name: Four-eyed butterflyfish. This fish has a silver-gray elliptical body with diagonal black lines and a black spot circled in white on the rear of the body. It needs an aquarium rich in algae vegetation and good water quality. Feeds on Aiptasia
