En savoir plus
The Chaetodon falcula is a butterflyfish that is rather silvery, with yellow and black shades on the dorsal and caudal fins. A vertical black band runs across the head of the specimen, passing through the eye, in the same way as other fish of the genus. It is found in the Indian Ocean, off the coasts of Sri Lanka and the Seychelles. Most often, it lives in pairs and occupies coral reefs.
For effective maintenance in an aquarium, the volume allocated to the Chaetodon falcula must be at least 450L. The temperature should be around 24°C, and the pH close to 8. A great swimmer, this specimen needs a significant space to thrive. Both interspecific and intraspecific relationships are rather good. Its diet is mainly based on coral polyps. Once acclimated, the species accepts a large number of foods, its diet becoming that of a macrophage or polyphage.
Common name: Sickle butterflyfish. This fish has a silver-gray elliptical body with transverse lines and 2 large black spots on the top.
