En savoir plus

The Chaetodon lunula is a butterflyfish with yellow and black hues. On the top of its head, a small horizontal white stripe is visible. This pattern has earned it the nickname "raccoon butterflyfish." Near the Seychelles, this specimen is most often encountered in pairs, though occasionally it can be seen in groups. When fully grown, it measures about 20 cm.

For effective maintenance in an aquarium, a minimum water volume of 200L is required. The water temperature should be between 23° and 28° and the pH between 8 and 8.5. Shy by nature, it prefers to be kept in pairs or with peaceful and non-territorial fish. A corallivore, it loves LPS corals and small invertebrates.

Common name: Raccoon Butterflyfish. A beautiful butterflyfish that is easy to feed as it eats a bit of everything, including the polyps of LPS corals, so caution is advised when acclimating it to a reef aquarium. It particularly needs an aquarium rich in algal vegetation. In large volumes, it is possible to keep a pair of Chaetodon lunula without any issues.
