En savoir plus
The Chaetodon speculum is an oval-spotted butterflyfish. Indeed, it is distinguished by a large black and brown ocellus, present on the upper part of its flanks. A black mark also vertically crosses its eye. Moreover, its body is predominantly yellow and measures around 18 cm, but at night, it turns white. The species inhabits the waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. More specifically, this fish resides in reefs rich in anemones, which it feeds on.
For effective maintenance in an aquarium, 450L of water volume is required. The temperature should be between 23° and 28°, and the pH between 8 and 8.4. Most of the time, it ignores other inhabitants of the aquarium. However, its dietary needs are complex to meet in captivity, making this species suitable for experienced aquarists.
Common name: Ocellated Butterflyfish. This fish has an elliptical body that is bright yellow, with a large black ocellus on the back and a narrow black ocular band that crosses its head. For its well-being, it needs an aquarium with a rich decor of live rocks.
