En savoir plus

Often called the "pajama cardinalfish," the Sphaeramia nematoptera originates from Indonesia. Measuring about 8 cm, its body is laterally compressed and has a round shape. While the rear is rather white, its head is greenish. Additionally, its pelvic fins are yellow, and a black stripe connects them on each flank. Finally, its eyes are surrounded by an orange rim. Evolving at mid-height or shallow depth, this fish lives in schools and leads a nocturnal lifestyle. It particularly likes to slip between branches to take shelter.

To keep it in good conditions, a minimum 200L aquarium is required. Then, a water temperature between 27° and 29° and a pH between 8.2 and 8.4 are perfectly suitable for the Sphaeramia nematoptera. Furthermore, favor a slow current to mimic the natural habitat of this specimen. If it has adequate space, this fish is relatively peaceful. A carnivore, this specimen mainly feeds on crustaceans but can be fed with dry, frozen, or fresh foods.

Common name: Pajama cardinalfish. This fish has an oval-shaped body with a broad black stripe in the middle of the body and a yellow head.
