En savoir plus
The Amphiprion ocellaris, nicknamed Nemo following the film of the same name, has often been a victim of a trend. Indeed, its maintenance is much more difficult than that of a goldfish. If you wish to raise one and have never had a marine aquarium, be sure to thoroughly inform yourself before acquiring one.
Breeding
It is a fish whose breeding is well mastered; they live as a pair in an anemone. The female lays ovocytes on a hard substrate near the anemone. Once the ovocytes are fertilized by the male, they become eggs. These eggs intensify in orange over time, at which point one can already recognize the Amphiprion ocellaris.
Male-Female Differentiation
Once hatched, the fry are all male; only the largest will become females. This phenomenon is called protandry.
In this way, by purchasing 2 captive-bred clownfish (Size S or M), you will inevitably have a pair.
Advice
Don't forget that it is advisable to introduce an anemone where it can find refuge. If you don't have one, it will settle for a colony of Rhodactis (Disco Anemone) or an Euphyllia (LPS).
