En savoir plus

Mycosidol For a clean marine aquarium. Mycosidol Bio Cure contains natural ingredients and bacteria to purify the water and break down organic waste, known as Detritus. Red algae, also known as cyanobacteria, will primarily develop in aquariums with a lot of detritus. When Mycosidol is used as a remedy, the development of Cyanos can be stopped. Mycosidol can also be used as a periodic treatment to prevent the accumulation of organic waste.

MYCOSIDOL® - Colombo

Instructions

FR-Mycosidol BioCure - Eliminates nutrients for cyanobacteria.

Volume Assessment

Calculate the volume in liters of your aquarium as accurately as possible: length x width x average depth in decimeters. Then, it is advisable to approximately deduct the volume occupied by rocks, sand, etc. Generally, you should deduct 10%; in very densely populated tanks, this can reach up to 30% of the total volume.

Water Quality

Cyanobacteria are bacteria that require a lot of nutrition and a lot of light to grow. Colombo Mycosidol is designed to remove nutrition (in the form of detritus) by ensuring that specially selected marine bacteria degrade these detritus through active oxygen. Mycosidol can only be effective if the treatment is supported by the optimization of the entire aquarium. At the bottom of this manual, this optimization is described in more detail. Your Colombo dealer can assist you.

Dosage

1 graduated spoon (=1 ml) per 15 liters of seawater. Since Mycosidol works by removing nutrients, 3-4 doses are generally necessary. We advise treating twice a week with 3-4 days in between. Mycosidol is not a biocide that kills bacteria directly!

Safe Use

Active oxygen is released from Mycosidol. Active oxygen can also harm corals. Therefore, sprinkle Mycosidol in a place where it can dissolve safely. Unplug the pumps for 5 minutes to prevent the dispersion of Mycosidol throughout the aquarium and avoid it reaching the corals. The decantation area is a good place to let Mycosidol dissolve.

Impact on Carbonate Hardness

Mycosidol increases the carbonate hardness of the water by about 1-1.5 °DH per addition. You must adjust your KH+ dosage accordingly during manual or automatic dosing.

Filter

You can leave the filter running during the treatment. For best results, we recommend turning off the skimmer for 2 to 3 hours. If necessary, restart the skimmer sooner depending on the water quality. Do not filter with charcoal or zeolite. UV lamps and ozone equipment should be unplugged up to 24 hours after administering the treatment. No water changes during the treatment.

Warning

Suitable for marine fish only. Keep out of reach of children. Store the product in its box between 4 and 32°C.

Combinations

The administration of more than 2 preparations and/or medications in combination is at your own risk. Do not administer simultaneously with products from other sources!

Information

Red algae are actually cyanobacteria. There are several types of cyanobacteria in a marine aquarium. They look like red slime, but they can also be green, blue, and even black. Their presence is generally linked to poor aquarium conditions, such as poor water quality (high levels of nitrate, phosphate, or organic load), high temperature (in summer), or low water flow.

If you detect a problem, it should be addressed to ensure your treatment is effective. Elevated nitrate levels can be reduced by using Colombo Marine Nitrate-Ex. Elevated phosphate levels can be quickly reduced by using Colombo Marine Phosphate-Ex. A high organic load can be resolved by using a good protein skimmer or by increasing its efficiency. Regular cleaning of the aquarium, especially in dead spots, greatly helps to eliminate excess nutrients, particularly for older aquariums. Avoid high temperatures by cooling the water with specific equipment available in stores. Increasing water circulation in the aquarium is very effective in preventing and keeping cyanobacteria at bay, for example, by installing additional circulation pumps or regularly changing their position. New circulation pumps can automatically adjust their speed and direction. Since cyanobacteria need light to develop, reducing the intensity and duration of lighting will significantly slow them down.
