Colombo Pro Reef Salt - A Natural Salt for Reef Aquariums
Due to its origin, Colombo Pro Reef Salt is fundamentally different from most other salts for reef aquariums. More and more enthusiasts understand the advantages of a natural product compared to a chemically obtained product. With minimal chemical or technical modifications, Colombo Pro Reef Salt is as close as possible to natural seawater. At least 85% of its constituents are collected from natural seawater through environmentally friendly solar evaporation. The fresh salt comes from the Coral Sea and therefore contains trace elements in the same proportion as natural seawater. Research has shown that the salt retains traces of bacteria after evaporation. These traces are responsible for a significant improvement in the biology of your aquarium. This, combined with a well-balanced formula and pure, unpolluted ingredients, results in a very noticeable improvement in coral development for 95% of users. This is why experts and professionals strongly recommend using Colombo Pro Reef Salt and Colombo additives.
Features:
- Made from evaporated water from the Red Sea
- Complete, easy, and quick dissolution
- Extremely low moisture content
- Free from any contamination
- Complete composition for reef aquariums
- Eco-friendly production through solar evaporation
- The best choice for a successful marine aquarium
For a healthy and successful reef aquarium, we recommend replacing 5 to 10% of the water weekly. First, top up the aquarium level with water from reverse osmosis to compensate for evaporation. Then, remove the amount of water you want to change and replace it with freshly prepared seawater. Scan the 2D barcode on this page or visit our website to watch a video showing how to prepare seawater from Colombo Pro Reef Salt.
Colombo Pro Reef Salt - For All Types of Marine Aquariums
Colombo Pro Reef Salt can be used for all types of marine aquariums, ranging from a fish-only tank to a true reef aquarium. Given the diversity of marine aquariums, opinions vary on water composition, salinity, temperature, calcium level, etc. Colombo can only provide general guidelines for the preparation of artificial seawater with Colombo Pro Reef Salt. It is recommended to adjust your composition based on your habits, experiences, and especially your aquarium.
Terms of Use:
- Start by dissolving 1 kilogram of Colombo Pro Reef Salt in 30 liters of osmosis water. The water should have a temperature of 25°C. It is preferable to start with a relatively small amount of salt, as it is easier to add salt than osmosis water.
- Circulate the water until all the salt is dissolved and the water is clear. Generally, this takes less than 60 minutes.
- Check the salinity/density of the prepared seawater, which will be around 1.022-1.023. If it is lower than desired, add more salt and mix again.
- Sample the water for the parameters you consider important and adjust them as needed. For example, the calcium level will be around 420 mg/l. If you prefer a higher calcium level, you can add more Colombo Pro Reef salt (which will also increase the salinity and levels of other elements) or Colombo Calcium+ if you just want to increase the calcium level.
- The same procedure can be used for other water parameters, such as magnesium level, KH, etc.
Thus, everyone can develop their own protocol to create their specific seawater with the desired composition using Colombo Pro Reef salt. Use this protocol the next time you prepare seawater. Note: Sometimes, after preparing seawater with Colombo Pro Reef salt, there may be precipitates at the bottom of the aquarium that simply do not dissolve. This comes from sand, a byproduct of the evaporation of natural seawater used to prepare the natural ingredients in Colombo Pro Reef salt. This sand is safe and not harmful in any case.
If you have high levels of nitrate (and sometimes phosphate) in your newly prepared seawater, these nitrates and phosphates do not come from Colombo Pro Reef salt but are due to old and/or polluted osmosis water filters that let nitrates, and in severe cases, phosphates pass through. Replacing these filters in your setup is the best solution. Also, check the nitrate and phosphate levels in your aquarium, as they increase significantly when these substances are present in your osmosis water. Use Colombo Nitrate-Ex or Phosphate-Ex to reduce high levels of nitrate or phosphate.
