Cerpofor Bactyfec - Treatment for External Bacterial Infections
Introduction
Cerpofor Bactyfec is designed to combat external bacterial infections such as skin ulcers, fin rot, and hole-in-the-head disease in fish. Before using it, please read the instructions carefully and feel free to consult your retailer if you have any questions.
Calculating the Aquarium Volume
To calculate the volume of your aquarium in liters, use the formula: length x width x average depth in decimeters. Then, approximately deduct the volume occupied by plants, rocks, fossil wood, sand, etc. Generally, this deduction is around 10%, but in heavily stocked aquariums, it can reach up to 30% of the total volume.
Dosage and Use
Shake Cerpofor Bactyfec before use. It should be used for 3 consecutive days. The recommended dosage is as follows:
- Day 1: 1 ml per 15 liters of aquarium water
- Day 2: 1 ml per 15 liters of aquarium water
- Day 3: 1 ml per 15 liters of aquarium water
Use the provided doser to measure the required amount and spread it in the water.
Since the active substances in Bactyfec are of natural origin, their dissolution can reduce the oxygen content of the aquarium. Therefore, ensure optimal aeration so that your fish have enough oxygen. Do not filter with carbon or zeolite, and unplug UV lamps and equipment for up to a week after treatment. During treatment, avoid water changes and only dose 1 ml per 15 liters of tap water. Keep the filter running during treatment. One week after the last treatment, you can perform weekly water changes (10-20%).
Warning and Precautions
This treatment is recognized as non-harmful to invertebrates such as frogs, shrimp, freshwater crayfish, and snails. However, due to their sensitivity, we cannot guarantee this. Feel free to share your positive or negative experiences on the website www.colombo.nl or via email: info@colombo.nl.
Compatibility and Additional Information
Cerpofor Bactyfec is developed for use in a standard community aquarium with a pH between 7 and 8.5 and a KH of 4-8°DH. Special aquariums may have different values that can influence the effectiveness of Bactyfec. It is suitable for freshwater aquarium fish. Store the product in its box between 4 and 32°C. Do not inhale it and avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately and have the packaging or label on hand.
Information on Bacterial Infections
Hole-in-the-head disease, skin ulcers, mouth fungus, and fin rot are caused by bacteria, particularly Cytophaga columnaris (formerly known as Flexibacter). The bacteria attack when the skin mucus is damaged, forming holes or ulcers. Cerpofor Bactyfec specifically treats external bacteria.
