Cerpofor Dactycid - Treatment for Internal and External Worms
Introduction
Cerpofor Dactycid is designed to combat internal and external worms in fish, such as nematodes, skin worms (Gyrodactylus), and gill worms (Dactylogyrus). Before using it, please read the instructions carefully and do not hesitate to consult your dealer if you have any questions.
Calculating the Aquarium Volume
To calculate the volume of your aquarium in liters, use the formula: length x width x average depth in decimeters. Then, approximately deduct the volume occupied by plants, stones, fossil wood, sand, etc. Generally, this deduction is about 10%, but in heavily stocked aquariums, it can reach up to 30% of the total volume.
Dosage and Usage
Shake Cerpofor Dactycid for 30 seconds before use. The recommended dosage is 1 ml for 5 liters of aquarium water. Use the provided doser to measure the required amount and spread it in the water. Turn on the air pump. It is advisable to change 25% of the water before application. After 48 hours, change another 25% of the water. It is recommended to repeat the treatment after 14 days.
Do not filter with charcoal or zeolite, and unplug UV lamps and equipment for 48 hours after treatment. During the treatment, avoid water changes and only dose 1 ml per 5 liters of tap water. Leave the filter running during the treatment. One week after the last treatment, you can perform weekly water changes (10-20%).
Warning and Precautions
This product can be harmful to invertebrates such as frogs, shrimp, freshwater crayfish, snails, as well as elephant fish and similar species. The use of Cerpofor Dactycid is therefore not recommended in the presence of these species. Feel free to share your positive or negative experiences on the website www.colombo.nl or by email: info@colombo.nl.
Compatibility and Additional Information
Cerpofor Dactycid is developed for use in a standard community aquarium with a pH between 7 and 8.5 and a KH of 4-8°DH. Special aquariums may have different values that can influence the effectiveness of Dactycid. It is suitable for freshwater fish in aquariums. Store the product in its box between 4 and 32°C. Do not inhale it and avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately with the packaging or label at hand.
Information on Worm Infections
Acanthocephalans have a snout with hooks that allow them to attach to the intestinal walls. Worm eggs are eliminated with the fish's excrement. Nematodes are long, round worms present in the intestines. Their larvae sometimes spread through live food. Infected fish may lose weight and produce slimy excrement. Gyrodactylus are skin worms that can also be present on gills. Dactylogyrus are gill worms that can also be on the skin. The larvae of these worms can spread and infect other fish. Infected fish may show symptoms such as swimming with open gill covers. Cerpofor Dactycid can be effective against these infections.
