En savoir plus

Reaching a size of about 45 cm in some cases, the Holothuria Atra, or Black-spotted Sea Cucumber, is a fairly imposing detritivore. Native to the Indo-Pacific Ocean, this specimen scrapes sandy bottoms in search of food. Indeed, it primarily consumes remnants and debris in lagoons and reef slopes. By accumulating sand around its body, the Holothuria Atra camouflages itself and appears gray. It is worth noting that the larger individuals cover themselves with fewer particles.

Holothuria Atra common name: Common Sea Cucumber. This sea cucumber has the shape of a black sausage.

It likes to hide in sediments, sand, and live rocks. At night, it comes out to eat all the waste; it is a good detritivore. It should be handled with care, as it can be toxic if it dies.
