Easysps is a natural freeze-dried food, specially designed for SPS corals with the unbeatable quality of the Cadiz Easy Reefs brand.

We recommend the simultaneous use of Easybooster with easysps to prevent imbalances in the system caused by limiting nutritional factors.

Manufacturing

Easysps is a food for SPS corals, specially formulated for this specific type of coral. However, given its particular characteristics of size and composition, it is also suitable for aquariums where this type of coral is not dominant.

It is composed of freeze-dried shrimp + microalgae + fish oil.

With these ingredients, a process of lyophilization / agglomeration / shearing is carried out, from which we will obtain a range of food particles in the following sizes:

- 0.4 - 200 µm 54.90% of particles in this range
- 200 - 400 µm 28.30% of particles
- 400 - 1000 µm 16.70% of particles

Why is this an ideal food for so-called SPS (Short Polyp Stony) corals?

Because the range of particles where this type of coral occurs with the greatest intensity is around 60 µm.

Composition

Once a certain range of particles has been reached, we analyze what they are made of. Through a cold manufacturing process (lyophilization and extrusion), perfect preservation of all the essential compounds already present in the raw material of this food has been achieved.

- Proteins> 50%: Besides having a high percentage of proteins, this is represented by the complete amino acid profile, meaning that all the amino acids necessary for proper biological development are present in this food.

- Lipids 6%: perfect EPA / ARA / DHA percentages. These essential fatty acids come from the unique ability of the microalgae present in easysps to synthesize them, namely Phaeodactylum tricornutum, Isochrysis galbana (T. Iso), and Tetraselmis chuii.

- Carbohydrates 18%

With this nutritional profile, we approach the same percentages present both in coral tissues and in the composition of the 50/30/20 plankton itself. Easysps is 50/6/18, and zooplankton is similar to easysps. The percentage varies more in the proportion of lipids or fats, where, as can be seen, the proportion is further from the natural proportion (composition of coral tissue). There is a reason for this: photosynthetic SPS corals are animals that live in symbiosis with plant cells (Zooxanthellae) from which they derive part of their nutritional needs.

Zooxanthellae provide the coral with 81% of its lipids and some amino acids in small amounts through translocation, including 2% of the amino acid Glutamine and 1% of Alanine, which are insufficient for its protein needs. Consequently, the coral cannot live exclusively on its zooxanthellae and needs to obtain proteins or their precursors and carbohydrates from other sources, mainly zooplankton, phytoplankton, bacterioplankton, and to a lesser extent dissolved amino acids in the water.

The nutritional composition of easysps provides corals with a high-value protein source thanks to its complete amino acid profile, a balanced lipid profile rich in EPA, ARA, and DHA, carbohydrates, and essential bio-assimilable micronutrients directly involved in the metabolic pathways of these animals .

Thus, between the contribution of Zooxanthellae and that of Easysps, we will have all the nutritional needs covered in their necessary proportions.

Results

By achieving an increase in the metabolic rates of corals by enhancing their available food sources in the water, we will obtain a series of indirect benefits:

- Greater coral growth: Pay close attention to the consumption of Calcium, Carbonates (Kh), and Magnesium, as these consumptions will increase due to the increased growth of corals. We recommend monitoring by testing during the first few weeks of using the product.

- A greater consumption of inorganic nutrients: nitrate and phosphate levels will be reduced thanks to their consumption by the corals.

- Improvement of coral coloration According to Easy Reefs' studies, the increase in heterotrophic feeding of corals leads to an increase in peroxide concentrations within the corals, reaching bactericidal levels. This results in a decrease in the concentration of zooxanthellae in the coral tissue and an improvement in its coloration, which is also aided by the bioavailability of the complete amino acid profile and essential fatty acids in perfect proportion, ensuring no shortage of raw materials necessary for synthesizing the pigments so highly sought after by marine aquarium enthusiasts.
