Ecotech Marine - Vortech MP40WQD

To generate flow in reef tanks, the VorTech® is unmatched in beauty and functionality.

Description

Flow without compromise

In an aquarium, having the right amount of flow is crucial for the health of the ecosystem. With VorTech® QuietDrive®, choosing the right water circulation equipment has never been easier.

Pumps are known among aquarists for being the benchmark in terms of flow rate in marine aquariums. When it comes to a wide yet gentle flow, the VorTech design is unmatched.

- Create a massive water movement
- No coral damaging the "hotspots"
- Natural gyre
- Reservoir-scale flow models
- Precise control of water movement

Magnetic couple

At the heart of the VorTech, the success of this product lies in its unique, patented, and magnetically coupled design.

- No distraction from the beauty of the tank and its inhabitants
- No wires in the aquarium
- No unwanted heat added to the water column
- No risk of harmful electric shock to people or marine life
- No hassle during installation, moving, or cleaning of the motor head.

Characteristics

It appears that "MP40wQD" is not a phrase in French and does not have a direct translation to English. It seems to be a combination of letters and numbers, possibly a code, model number, or abbreviation. Could you please provide more context or clarify if it is part of a larger text?

- Flow rate: 5000 gph (19000 lph)

- Power consumption: 9-37 watts

- Range of tanks: 50-500+ gallons (190-1,800 liters)

- Maximum glass thickness: 0.75 inches (19 mm)

Different Modes

To flow / To sink

- Lagoon mode:
The Lagoon mode simulates a lagoon environment with low energy consumption. The pump speed is slowly adjusted to recreate the gentle currents of a lagoon.

- Reef Crest Mode:
The Reef Crest Random mode simulates a high-energy reef environment. The pump will frequently and radically change speed to simulate crashing waves and rising tides. It is a favorite among SPS corals.

- Gyre Mode:
The Gyre mode creates a flow pattern consisting of uniform flow rates in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, pulsing at an interval selected between two seconds and two hours.

* The alternating directional gyre requires multiple pumps.

- Short pulse mode:
The Short Pulse mode creates a flow pattern consisting of uniform high and low levels pulsing at a selected interval between 0.2 seconds and 2 seconds.

- Tidal wave mode:
The Tidal Swell Mode (TSM) creates a harmonic balance that mimics the changing flow conditions found in nature. Over the course of several hours, the flow pattern will transition from very chaotic to calm, followed by a surge that removes debris at the very end of the cycle. The flow direction will change with each cycle.

- Mode of nutrient transport:
The nutrient transport mode (NTM) creates circulation in a two-phase program. The first phase uses wave motion to stir up detritus. The second phase follows with a pushing motion to move the detritus into the overflow and out of the aquarium. This mode promotes optimal health, nutrient export, and increased growth for sensitive corals such as SPS.

Function

- Power supply mode:
With a simple touch of the button, all wirelessly activated VorTech® pumps will temporarily pause their current mode and remain inactive, allowing food to be added to the tank without being cycled into the overflow and filtration.

- Night mode:
The pumps can be activated to run a gentler night program that simulates calmer ocean conditions during nighttime hours.

- Automatic wave adjustment:
Create a standing wave in your aquarium and demonstrate the true power of the fully operational VorTech® QuietDrive® control system.

Skills

- Multi-pump communication:
All VorTech® pumps labeled "w" come with an installed RF module. The RF module will allow up to 8 "w" pumps of any type to operate together in sync, anti-sync, or coordinated modes.

- EcoSmart® Live via a mobile device:
All VorTech® pumps referred to as "WQD" are compatible with ReefLink® and can be controlled with the MOBIUS app. ReefLink provides completely wireless access to the world of EcoSmart Live, the web-based aquarium control center from EcoTech Marine®.

- Backup battery mode:

Snowstorm. Hurricane. A motorist hits a utility pole. Things happen. The power goes out… VorTech® pumps are compatible with the EcoTech® battery backup accessory.

Battery

In an aquarium without water flow, the fish and corals can start to die in as little as 4 to 10 hours. The backup battery is a reef tank insurance contained in an aluminum case.

By adding the backup battery, your tank is insulated from power outages, helping to protect your valuable investment and the inhabitants of your tank.

* The hours are estimated and vary depending on battery life, pump mode, and other factors.
** For better performance in return pump configuration, a Vectra backup battery booster is required.
