EHEIM - Activated Carbon 5 L
Description
Adsorbent means to attach (as opposed to absorb = to soak up). Adsorptive filter media are materials that remove harmful substances from the water and fix or bind them. This includes, for example, chlorine from tap water, medication residues, or traces of detergents, pesticides, dyes, etc.
Characteristics
EHEIM KARBON is particularly suitable for clarifying water during the aquarium's initial setup phase. It reliably removes chlorine from tap water and other chemicals that enter the aquarium during its setup.
EHEIM KARBON is used for a short period (about 4 weeks) in a layered structure after the mechanical filter material (e.g., EHEIM MECH or MECHpro) and biological filter material (e.g., EHEIM SUBSTRATpro) in the provided mesh bag.
- Binds chlorine and other chemicals
- Use, for example, after a new setup or medication treatment
- Use for a limited time (about 4 weeks)
- Suitable only for fresh water
Advice
Only use adsorptive filter media for a few weeks. Since pollutants are only adhered to, they can dissolve again after a certain period and be released back into the water. At least regular replacement is necessary. Adsorptive filtering is generally only required during the aquarium's initial setup phase or after the use of medications.
