En savoir plus
The Hemigrammus bleheri, or Rummy-nose tetra, is a freshwater fish from South America. Indeed, it is very likely to encounter it in Brazil in the Orinoco and Rio Negro basins, and in the Meta River. Due to its small size and characteristic red spot at the tip of its head, the Rummy-nose tetra is a star in the aquarium hobby. Easy to maintain, it lives in schools, adopts a diurnal lifestyle, and swims at mid-level. To feed, it hunts aquatic microorganisms and insects.
Keeping a group of at least 10 is crucial to respect the living habits of your aquatic animals. For this species, a 120 L aquarium or basin is required, with slightly acidic water with a pH between 6 and 6.8. The temperature should neither drop below 23°C nor exceed 26°C. A tank length of 100 cm is recommended, as the Hemigrammus bleheri needs significant living space. Adding plants and naturally acidic detritus to the water can significantly improve its living conditions. If you wish to promote breeding, the parameters to follow are the same as for the cardinal tetra.
