En savoir plus
The Pseudolithoxus anthrax is a catfish native to the freshwater regions of Venezuela. Their average size is 12 cm. Recognizable by the white spots that cover its body, it has 24 to 26 placoid scales. Even though it prefers acidic waters in its natural environment, it adapts well to more alkaline waters in aquariums. Difficult to acclimate, this species requires regular monitoring of the oxygenation of the water used.
The pH should be between 6 and 7.5, with the temperature between 23°C and 27°C. The required water volume is over 200 liters. A varied diet is important for the specimen, including carnivorous food, algae, and plant-based food. Comfortable in aquariums that replicate natural biotopes, the Pseudolithoxus anthrax evolves at the bottom level of the latter.
