En savoir plus

The Ramirezi gold - Mikrogeophagus ramirezi is a small cichlid from South America, very colorful and well-known in aquariums. Its body is rather bluish, with some shades of yellow or orange around the head. Adopting a diurnal lifestyle, it commonly lives in groups or pairs, close to the surface. Its shy behavior gives way to a territorial instinct once the breeding period arrives. However, several professionals in the field have confirmed that breeding this species in an aquarium remains very difficult to successfully achieve.

Raising this specimen requires an 80 L aquarium, a temperature between 23° and 30°, and a pH of 6 to 6.8. The sensitivity to diseases and environmental changes of Mikrogeophagus ramirezi makes it a fish reserved for experienced aquarists. Prior documentation is crucial to keep this animal in very good health.
