En savoir plus
The Apistogramma cacatuoides is a dwarf cichlid that thrives in the waters of South America. Measuring approximately 5 to 8 cm, it has brown and yellowish scales. Additionally, a few blue spots are visible on its body. Depending on its mood, it can change colors. Living in a group organized around a dominant male, each territory is specific and composed of leaves or branches serving as natural hiding spots. During the breeding period, this specimen becomes more aggressive, defending its territory and offspring.
A 100L aquarium is recommended to maintain this species in optimal conditions. Also, a temperature between 24 and 27°C and a pH between 6.8 and 7.2 are the parameters that best suit the Apistogramma cacatuoides. At least two individuals should coexist to respect the animal's social structure. It is important to note that numerous refuges are essential for the females, who may feel oppressed by the males in some cases and will seek to escape to a calm area.
