EHEIM - SUBSTRAT PRO (5.0 L)

Description

The main task of the biological filter material is to provide the best conditions for bacterial cultures to settle, so that a bacterial lawn is created after a short period of time. The bacteria feed on all kinds of dirt particles and transform essential substances for the aquarium.

After the initial cleaning with a mechanical filter media (such as EHEIM MECH or MECHpro), biological filtration is the most important thing. It ensures clear and healthy water and stable water values. That’s why we have invested a lot of research into the development of biological filter media.

Features

The standard EHEIM SUBSTRAT biological filtration medium with a large settling area for bacterial cultures and the

high-performance SUBSTRAT can be composed in one or multiple layers. It is a highly porous filter material made of sintered quartz. The surface structure provides excellent colonization conditions for important cleaning bacteria. The adhesive surface is 450 m² per liter.
EHEIM SUBSTRAT is suitable for both fresh and saltwater, is washable, and can be used multiple times.

- Standard biological filter media
- Highly porous material made of sintered quartz
- Excellent conditions for bacterial cultures
- Reusable (rinse carefully to clean)
- Suitable for fresh and saltwater

Advice

Never clean or replace the entire biological filter material in a single process (and never too thoroughly). Bacterial cultures should not be completely destroyed, otherwise reinstallation will be delayed. Filter baskets in external filters and filter modules in internal aquaball and biopower filters are ideal for partial cleaning.
