En savoir plus
The Gramma melacara is also called the "black-capped imperial gramma," due to the mark located on the top of its head. The rest of its body, however, is a brilliant purple. Like most Gramma fish, it resides in the depths near the American continent. In particular, it loves wandering around coral reefs.
To keep it in good conditions, a minimum 120L aquarium is suitable. Additionally, the water temperature should be between 23° and 28°, but it is preferable that it does not exceed 27°. This is because the Gramma melacara is a deep-water fish, not accustomed to the warmth found at the surface. Finally, a pH between 8 and 8.5 is suitable. Its diet allows it to consume krill, mysis, pieces of shrimp, or pellets. We recommend, lastly, to house it with calm and peaceful animals that are not very territorial.
Common name: Black-capped imperial gramma perch. This fish has an elongated purple body. It is a very beautiful fish that adds sublime colors to the aquarium. For its well-being, it needs an aquarium with a decor rich in hiding places.
