Overview
Replenishing a number of trace elements is necessary to maintain an ideal environment for the growth and reproduction of marine life. Although the importance of trace elements has been recognized by aquarists for many years, the physiological reasons are not fully understood. The chemical elements of seawater are varied, and similarly, their addition to the aquarium in minute quantities has varied effects on a variety of saltwater plants and invertebrates. In general, however, these elements are important for metabolic processes and pigment formation. The addition of iron, for example, has been shown to be beneficial for the coloration and growth of corals, anemones, and other photosynthetic animals.
Reef Trace™ provides a wide range of trace elements shown to be necessary for the health and growth of reefs. Trace elements are normally depleted through use, oxidation, and precipitation. The latter two processes occur more rapidly than with other micronutrients, so it is important to regularly restore trace elements. Reef Trace™ can be used alone or in conjunction with Reef Plus™. The best results are achieved when both are used. Reef Trace™ is nitrate/phosphate-free.

FAQ
Is Reef Trace™ the same as Marine Trace™ with a different label?
No, the mineral content levels in Reef Trace™ are more appropriate for corals and other invertebrates in a reef system, while Marine Trace™ is more suited for nutrient levels that benefit marine fish.
