The structure of Nano-Tech Bio Media is essentially made up of many small beads tightly pressed against each other in such a way that there is only one point of contact between each of the beads, which allows water to pass through them very easily. This technology has been used for a long time by the wastewater treatment industry. It is called aerated biological filter (W-BAF). However, in wastewater treatment, these beads are not in the form of spheres, blocks, or plugs. They are used like the sand bed technique. But this is not very practical for use in aquariums. So, we decided to manufacture spheres, blocks, and plugs with these beads using patented technology, which is much easier to use for us aquarists.
