En savoir plus
The Canthigaster valentini, or "Saddleback Pufferfish," is a pufferfish that measures up to 11 cm in length. Black bands are present on its body, connecting its eyes across its back. Additionally, we can see spots on the entire lower part of its body, as well as stripes between its eyes. The colors it displays are yellow, black, and white. The Canthigaster valentini does not tolerate any intrusion into its territory, making confrontations frequent between mature males or females.
In an aquarium, a tank of at least 200L is recommended, with a water temperature between 22° and 26°. The pH should be between 8.2 and 8.4. Although tolerant of changes in its living environment's parameters, it nonetheless appreciates sandy bottoms and rocks. The cohabitation of two males in the same aquarium is highly discouraged. An omnivore, it feeds on dry, fresh, and frozen foods. Note that it is incompatible with algae. Its maintenance is intended for experienced aquarists.
Common name: Saddleback Pufferfish. This fish has a white body speckled with black dots and four black spots on its back.
For its well-being, it needs an aquarium of 200L (min) with a decor rich in hiding places. The frequency of feeding is very important; it needs to be fed three to four times a day. We recommend feeding it with shrimp, squid, mussels, large krill, and algae. In this way, you can keep it in good health for several years.
