ROLLER CLEAN is an automatic water filtration device for freshwater and saltwater aquariums. It mechanically removes suspended particles and other impurities such as debris, food, and organic waste from the aquarium water column, simultaneously providing clearer water.

The standard length of a roll is approximately 42 meters, and the maximum flow rate that can pass through the filter fabric is 8000 liters per hour.

Innovative !

The particularly innovative ROLLER CLEAN system allows for very easy changing of the filter veil roller. Indeed, it is designed with 2 parts:

- The first one is a receptacle that is attached to the edge of the aquarium or the technical tank.
- The second is a cassette that supports the filter cloth roller, allowing it to be very easily removed for any maintenance or roller replacement operations.

Thanks to its clever design, ROLLER CLEAN can be placed either on the left or right side of your technical tank !

Automatic !

The automatic operation of the ROLLER CLEAN is ensured by a drum motor and a level sensor connected to a controller. The latter controls the entire system based on the clogging of the filter veil.
Water arrives by gravity into the ROLLER CLEAN receptacle, passes through the filter veil, which removes its impurities. Gradually, the filter veil becomes clogged with dirt particles, thus reducing its filtration capacity. As a result, the water level rises in the receptacle until it activates the level sensor, which will command the controller to rotate the drum motor. This motor rolls up the dirty filter veil, placing a new clean section under the water flow. After this operation, the water level drops again and the drum motor automatically stops. This cycle will continue until there is no more filter veil on the roll, which will need to be replaced at that point.
 

Simple !

To replace the filter fleece roll, it's very simple: Just take the support cassette out of its receptacle, remove the dirty fleece roll from the cassette, replace it with a clean fleece roll, and then put everything back into the receptacle.

Setting !

Depending on the positioning of the level sensor in the support cassette, it is possible to determine the winding frequency of the filter veil (the veil will be more or less loaded).

The window!

By opening the lower window on the left side of the support cassette, some of the water will no longer pass through the filter cloth. This adjustment is very important because after some time using the ROLLER CLEAN, the water might become too poor in nutrients, and in this case, not all the water should pass through the filter cloth.

In color !

The controller is equipped with 3 LEDs of different colors which, when lit, provide the following information:
 
LEDgreen: the controller triggered the rewinding of the filter fabric by the motor drum.
LEDblueThe level sensor is blocked, the controller has detected an extended activation of the level sensor during the rewinding of the veil.
LEDredThe drum motor is blocked; the controller analyzes the motor's power during operation and stops it if it is overloaded.

The ROLLER CLEAN filter veil.

The density and structure of the ROLLER CLEAN filter veil are specially designed to be used in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
 
As a result, the ROLLER CLEAN filter veil helps to eliminate the larger waste particles that can be a source of excess nitrates and high phosphates, but it does not completely remove nitrogen and phosphorus compounds. Similarly, the filter veil does not remove salts and trace elements from the water, thereby ensuring stable water parameters in the aquarium.
 
The structure and density of the ROLLER CLEAN filter veil allow for a much greater water flow compared to some similar products. They also ensure faster drying of the veil after the filtration process.
 
The ROLLER CLEAN filter veil does not affect the proper functioning of protein skimmers.
 
The ROLLER CLEAN filtering veil received a positive review from the National Institute of Animal Production Research in Poland, which is the result of more than three years of detailed research in experimental freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

Additional information !

The mounting brackets allow for installation on the edge of an aquarium or a sump with a glass thickness of up to 8 mm, with an adjustable height of approximately 12 cm.

A roll of filter fabric lasts from 1.5 to 3 months, depending on the settings and the contamination of the aquarium.

Adjustment of the veil fouling.

By lowering the level sensor into the cassette, the winding of the veil becomes more frequent (the dirty veil will be lighter). By opening the lower window on the left side of the cassette, some of the water no longer passes through the veil. This adjustment is very important because, based on tests, we have noticed that after a certain period of using the Roller Clean, the water becomes too nutrient-poor and if this is the case, you should not pass 100% of the water through the filtering veil. Caution! The roller with the motor is not waterproof, so when replacing the dirty veil, unplug the motor connector and take the motor along with the dirty veil to a safe place to replace the dirty veil roll.

Use and maintenance

After each change of used sail roll, please check:

• that the cassette drainage grid is free of dirt both inside and outside (for example, algae, solid objects such as snail/shrimp shells, sand, etc.)

• that the rollers are clean

• the proper functioning of the float and the axis on which it moves (in case of a problem, remove the pin, take out the float, and wash it thoroughly with osmosis water)

• ensure that the sensor shows no signs of corrosion or fouling

• that the connectors linking the motor and the sensor to the controller are not wet

• that the veil is correctly wrapped as shown in the diagram on the cassette

• By installing the roller with the motor, it fits perfectly to the handles.

WARNING

The use of non-original rollers, power blocks, controllers, and sensors will result in warranty cancellation !

The maximum water flow rate is 8000 L/h.

Problem solving

Problem Cause / Solution Engine fault (red LED)

The protection against engine damage has been activated. The cause is solid elements that have penetrated the grid and become lodged between the screen and the lower rear roller. Solution: remove the cassette, open the drain valve to 100%, and clean the drain/connection pipes of all small solid debris (snails, hard algae, etc.).

The motor does not rewind.

If the blue or red LED is on, the controller is locked until it is reset (by cutting the power for 1 minute).

The engine only operates in manual mode.

Check the cables, the sensor socket connection with the controller. Ensure that the float is clean and that it responds when lifted manually.

Wet sailcloth roll

The Roller Clean is installed too low. In case of a power outage and the pump stops working, the water level in the technical tank can rise too high and soak the filter roll.

The motor runs continuously or rewinds a clean roll.

Check if the float is blocked (debris, snails). Ensure that the sensor plug is properly connected. The system will only rewind the roll for about 5 to 10 seconds before indicating an error with a blue LED.
