The Clypeaster is a sea urchin that has the unique feature of having a very flat and circular body. Also known as the "sand dollar," the ambulacral areas in its center form a flower pattern with 5 petals. The size of the specimen can reach 15 to 20 cm in diameter. Found in the Atlantic Ocean near the Caribbean, it roams sandy environments to feed. In aquariums, it filters the substrates, thus preventing the sand from becoming compacted. This sea urchin is an outstanding and recommended bottom cleaner.
