HOBBY - Catappa Bark
Description
For a long time, the leaves and bark of the Indian almond tree have been used in aquariums in Asian countries.
Breeders and owners of various fish and animals – bettas, discus, shrimps, crabs, and plecos – use them to treat bacterial diseases and heal injured fish, for example, from bites or during transport. Using the leaves and bark of the Indian almond tree significantly reduces the risk of wound infection.
The bark of the Indian almond tree has a similar effect to the leaves of the Indian almond tree (Catappa Leaves), but much stronger.
The humic substances and tannins contained in the bark strengthen the mucous membranes of fish to enhance their protective barrier function against all kinds of pathogens. The pieces of bark also promote the reproduction of your fish: on the one hand, the bark of the Indian almond tree stimulates fish spawning, and on the other hand, it prevents the development of fungi on the spawn.
The substances present in the bark also limit the proliferation of blue-green algae (cyanobacteria).
Studies have also shown that the bark of the Indian almond tree does not harm the beneficial bacteria present in aquariums.
When transporting fish, it is highly recommended to place a small piece of bark or leaf of the Indian almond tree in the water. This considerably reduces the fragility and stress of the animals against the significant microbial load.
When changing the water in the aquarium, you can also treat the new water directly using pieces of bark to limit the stress of your fish.
The bark of the Indian almond tree releases tannins and humic substances, creating a natural environment and improving the vitality and well-being of the inhabitants of your aquarium.
No tree suffers or dies during the harvesting of the bark.

Usage
Place a piece of bark directly in the aquarium. One piece of Catappa Bark is sufficient for about a hundred liters. The bark quickly sinks to the bottom of the aquarium. If you need a rapid effect, briefly pour boiling water over the bark. Our Indian almond tree bark releases its active agents into the water for about 3 weeks. You can then place a new piece of bark in the aquarium. The old piece can remain in the aquarium as a food supplement and as a hideout for your shrimp, crabs, and crayfish, or you can remove it. If you are using our Indian almond tree leaves (Catappa Leaves) simultaneously, please take this into account when dosing. The bark of the Indian almond tree can be stored indefinitely when kept in a dry place. As it is a natural product, variations in shape, color, and size are possible.
