En savoir plus
Lysmata wurdemanni also known as the aiptasia-eating shrimp. Lysmata wurdemanni are "cousins" of Lysmata rathbunae; they have the same coloration pattern. Because they are difficult to distinguish from one another, we sell them under the name Lysmata rathbunae/wurdemanni. They have the particularity of eating aiptasias.
For effective work against aiptasias, we recommend a group of 4 to 5 individuals for 300 liters.
Adult specimens you receive may, depending on the season, have parasitic crustaceans on their sides. These are neither dangerous for the tank nor deadly for the shrimp, and they generally get rid of them after a few molts without any consequences.
Important in the fight against Aiptasia:
It is important not to create a cloud of food (Artemia, etc.), as this has the effect of feeding the Aiptasia and thus helping them multiply, and secondly, feeding the shrimp which will become more "lazy" in consuming Aiptasia. We recommend feeding baskets and turning off the circulation. Moreover, studies show that multiple individuals are necessary for the shrimp to attack Aiptasia in mass.
