How to choose the right DOC skimmer for a saltwater aquarium?

Each marine aquarium, due to its individually created biotope, has a different sensitivity to organic compound loading. The assumptions about tank size apply to the average marine aquarium with soft corals, so these recommendations may differ from individual needs, which depend on the composition of the biotope. Therefore, for sensitive biotopes, when choosing a skimmer, the recommended volume should be reduced or adjusted if necessary.

Low sensitivity, no correction

In aquariums with soft corals, such as long-polyp corals and anemones, the amount of dissolved organic compounds can be greater and sometimes even necessary for life. 
The DOC skimmer for this aquarium volume can be used without the need for adjustment. 

Medium sensitivity, 40% reduction

In mixed tanks with soft and hard corals (LPS), a medium sensitivity to changing organic conditions is generally observed. Zooplankton, sponges, etc. are often found here. 
A DOC skimmer up to 1000 liters should be used for a tank of approximately 600 liters maximum. 

High sensitivity, 60% reduction

Aquariums predominantly with SPS stones require a particularly high degree of water purity. They should not be loaded with phosphate or nitrate. High oxygen saturation and clear water are prerequisites. The DOC Skimmer is often used in these aquariums as a "standalone" solution. 
A DOC skimmer up to 1000 liters should be used for a tank of approximately 400 liters. 

High sensitivity and high load, 70% reduction

Aquariums with hard corals and many fish require a very high skimming capacity. A skimmer must provide a high degree of water purity for stone corals with a relatively large number of fish. When used as a "standalone" skimmer, the skimmer must be particularly efficient.
A DOC skimmer up to 1000 liters should be used for a tank of approximately 300 liters.

TUNZE® DOC Skimmer 9410

Skimming, filtration, and ventilation of a saltwater aquarium without electricity are impossible. However, there is no more economical device than the TUNZE® DOC Skimmer 9410. The DOC Skimmer only uses 11W (15W) of electricity. For this, it does not require any special installation, it is very quiet, easy to use, and pleasant.

Removable post-filter

At the foam outlet, it allows perfect mechanical filtration with 300 µm nylon wool fibers with little biological interference. It prevents the formation of undesirable substances and nitrates at longer intervals during purification. The filter can be filled with agents such as: activated carbon or a phosphate adsorber.

The recall ring

It allows easy adjustment, enabling you to adjust the internal water level as needed to obtain wetter foam.

TUNZE® Hydrofoamer Silence 9410.04

Pump specially designed for the protein skimmer. The hydrofoamer generates a large number of small air bubbles with a diameter of 0.1 to 0.3 mm. For an air capacity of 600l / h, 11 W (15 W) of energy is sufficient, which places this device at the forefront among other products of this type. Providing a water flow rate of 900l / h, it also serves as a feed pump, from the aquarium water to the skimmer.

Transition chamber with water distributor
