The Paracanthurus hepatus surgeonfish, commonly known as "Dory," is a blue fish with a yellow tail. A black stripe is also present from the back of the body to the eyes. Measuring nearly 25 cm and with an oval shape, the species lives in depths either in groups or alone. With a very active temperament, this animal constantly roams the waters in search of algae to consume.
In an aquarium, the Paracanthurus hepatus requires a minimum water volume of 500L. The water should be at a temperature of 23° to 27°. Furthermore, the pH should be between 8.2 and 8.4. Depending on the intensity of its coloration, you can tell if its environmental conditions are suitable. A single individual can be introduced into the tank without any problems. Despite this, it remains a very social individual and maintains excellent intraspecific and interspecific relationships.
Paracanthurus hepatus common name: Blue Surgeon. This fish has an oval blue body with a large horizontal black stripe, and the tail is yellow. For its well-being, a tank with a décor rich in hiding places is necessary. It is very sociable with other species.
