En savoir plus

The Naso elegans is a surgeonfish measuring between 35 and 45 cm, with a yellow dorsal fin and orange scalpels. Additionally, its tail is white, and its body is gray. This specimen can easily be confused with the Naso lituratus. Generally, it lives in small groups near the bottom or at mid-depth, searching for algae. It primarily inhabits the waters of the Middle East and the Indian Ocean.

For aquarium maintenance, the minimum water volume is 1000L. The water temperature tolerated by the Naso elegans ranges between 22° and 26°. The pH should be between 8.2 and 8.4. This fish coexists with others if accustomed early and if its tankmates are not small. Sensitive to parameter variations, its acclimatization must be carried out carefully. An omnivore with a tendency towards algae-eating, feeding it once a day is perfectly suitable once it is an adult.

Common name: Elegant Naso. This fish has an oval gray body with a blue line at the base of the dorsal fin and 2 caudal scalpels. For its well-being, it needs an aquarium with ample swimming space because once it is an adult, it can measure up to 45 cm (hence requiring an appropriately sized aquarium).
