En savoir plus
The body of the Zebrasoma scopas is bicolored, ranging from a brown gradient to a darker black or gray. Tiny blue dots cover its body across all its scales. Although it does not get along with its own kind, it is much more tolerant towards other non-territorial fish. This surgeonfish is most often found at mid-depth or shallow waters.
For aquarium maintenance, a minimum water volume of 300L is required. A temperature between 25° and 29° is also recommended, as well as a pH between 8.2 and 8.4. An omnivore with a tendency towards herbivory, the Zebrasoma scopas feeds on benthic macroalgae in its natural environment. In captivity, it consumes dry and frozen foods. Make sure to vary its diet to promote healthy living conditions. Small fish should be avoided, as the specimen might perceive them as prey. The maintenance of the Zebrasoma scopas is reserved for experienced aquarists.
Common name: Brush or broom surgeonfish. This fish has an elliptical body with variable coloration, featuring shades of gray and brown. It is an active fish, feeding on anything it can graze on from live rocks and the substrate. It needs a good swimming space and plenty of hiding spots, and it is very resilient.
