The Zebrasoma xanthurum or surgeonfish with a yellow tail is a predominantly blue fish, with yellow pectoral fins, as well as the caudal fin. With an average size of 10 cm, it can nevertheless measure up to 36 cm. Roaming coral reefs and large spaces, this specimen moves in groups or alone, mainly in the Indian Ocean and in the Middle Eastern seas.

 

For effective maintenance of the Zebrasoma xanthurum, an aquarium of at least 600L is recommended. The species' preferred temperature is between 23° and 27°, and the suitable pH ranges from 8.2 to 8.4. Omnivorous with a tendency towards herbivory, it tolerates schooling fish if they have been introduced beforehand. Be careful, as very small fish will serve as prey for your Zebrasoma xanthurum.

 

Common name: Yellowtail surgeonfish. This fish has a blue-violet ovaloid body with a yellow tail. It can be kept with other surgeonfish species provided there is sufficient volume. It feeds on detritus and anything it can graze on living rocks and the substrate; it needs a good swimming space.
