En savoir plus

The Balistoides conspicillum is commonly known as the clown triggerfish and features black and yellow scales, as well as large white spots. Its fins have a bluish tint, and the area around its mouth is orange. Additionally, it has three dorsal spines to deter its opponents. Solitary in nature, it inhabits the clear waters of coastal areas. The larger they are, the more the individuals benefit from deep drop-offs.

To keep the Balistoides conspicillum in an aquarium, a minimum water volume of 2000L is required for a community tank. Indeed, measuring 45 to 50 cm at adult size, this fish needs a large living space. The water temperature should be between 24° and 28°. On the other hand, the pH should be stabilized between 8.2 and 8.4. A single individual can live in an aquarium without any issues. Robust, the clown triggerfish is not compatible with corals, mollusks, and crustaceans. Additionally, it is strongly discouraged to keep multiple males of this species together. It is preferable to favor interspecific cohabitation with fish that have non-territorial behavior.
