FAQ

Why can't I use rechargeable batteries with my sludge extractor 3531?

Unlike batteries (nominal voltage 1.5 V), rechargeable batteries only have a nominal voltage of 1.2 V. Therefore, battery-operated devices that are not specifically designed for rechargeable batteries only operate with limited performance (e.g., for a very short time, like an automatic charger). Additionally, there is self-discharge, which is sometimes very high. Due to this self-discharge, batteries that are not used continuously must be charged before each use.

In theory, the sludge extractor also works with rechargeable batteries. However, the operating voltage in battery mode is only 4.8 V (4 x 1.2 V). In battery operation, it is 6 V (4 x 1.5 V). Therefore, due to the lower motor speed, cleaning the substrate in battery mode is very tedious.

The second reason against using rechargeable batteries is the self-discharge of the batteries. Since the sludge extractor is generally not used every day, a drop in battery voltage is usually not noticeable. Therefore, the batteries would need to be charged before each (spontaneous) cleaning.
